The Food Pantry Ministry

This ministry involves volunteers who pack and distribute food to clients when they arrive at the Food Pantry. We support this mission in several ways. One way is that members of our church volunteer their services at the site. Another way is through regularly collected food donations or special food drives. The receptacles are usually located in the church belfry or the fellowship hall. Last of all, a portion of the monthly “2 cents a meal” offering plus any additional monetary contributions are donated.

Library Ministry

This ministry helps young people in a library setting located on the campus of the Florida Youth Challenge Academy. Church volunteers serve the students by finding books they want and providing a lot of encouragement and smiles. We also check-in and check-out books, shelve them, and catalog new ones.

Florida Youth Challenge Academy empowers at-risk teenagers to become successful, productive citizens by leading, training and mentoring them through a disciplined and motivational environment. Since this program started their first class, they have graduated over 5,300 boys and girls that were at risk of dropping out of school. The academy consists of two phases. The first phase of the program is residential and phase two is a time when the adolescent uses the skills learned with a placement in either a job, further education, or the military.

Eyeglasses Ministry

This ministry involves collecting new or used eyeglasses and then placing them in a designated container at the church. The glasses are to help needy people in Enongal Presbyterian Hospital in Ebolowa Cameroon, Africa.  One of our church members travels to Cameroon on a regular basis to distribute them as a church mission.

The Bicycle Ministry of First Presbyterian Church of Green Cove Springs is a group of volunteers who repair bicycles to be given to people in need. Members of our church and also our church sponsored youth Scout Troops, volunteer in this ministry. Throughout the year, they dedicate their efforts in repairing and making sure each bike is safe. If you also wish to donate a bike, you can drop it off at the church or get in touch with the contact below. This ministry works with J.P. Hall Children’s Charities. The bikes are donated and given away to children in Clay County at the Annual J.P. Hall Christmas Party.
